Waltzing Matlida

WALTZING MATILDA

Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong
Under the shade of a coolabah tree,
And he sang as he watched and waited ’til his billy boiled
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me”

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me”
And he sang as he watched and waited ’til his billy boiled,
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me”.

Down came a jumbuck to drink at that billabong,
Up jumped the swagman and grabbed him with glee,
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag,
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me”.

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me”
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag,
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me”.

Up rode the squatter, mounted on his thoroughbred,
Down came the troopers, one, two, three,
“Where’s that jolly jumbuck you’ve got in your tucker bag?”
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me”.

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me”
“Where’s that jolly jumbuck you’ve got in your tucker bag?”,
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me”.

Up jumped the swagman and sprang into the billabong,
“You’ll never take me alive”, said he,
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong,
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me”.

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me”
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong,
“You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me.”
“Oh, You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me.”

St Lukes Carols Song Order and Words
Filed under (Uncategorized) by Margaret @ 09:37 pm

Thanks to Ms Brewer for the wonderful song lists! Think those on the suspect list for deletion are: Tallis Canon and Sussex Carol- definitely “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” is gone.  For those who don’t have it, a click on the following link should do the trick! St Lukes Carols Song Order and Words.

See you about 6.30 on Tuesday evening at St Lukes!

Voce Meeting- minutes 11.3.08

Voce Meeting 11.3.08
Present: Brian, Di, Catherine, Kent, Loretto
Business:

  • Workshop comments Participants enjoyed the contemporary repetoire whilst finding it quite challenging musically.

It was relaxing not having a public performance at the end of the day and we enjoyed having some pieces to add to our repertoire which we can continue to develop.

It was particularly delightful seeing people we have sung with previously now coming back to present workshops for us – and doing such a fine job too.

A delightful day all around – and as usual the food was magnificent!!!

Loretto to forward these comments to Rachel Dwyer for Qld Kodaly newsletter.

  • Goondiwindi workshop dates are May 31 – June1. Kent to confirm these dates with Rebecca. Workshop to be discussed at next choir to determine whether we go as a whole choir or as individual participants.
  • Future venue for rehearsal – Uniting church hall, our current venue have notified us of imminent charges to include $20 per hour plus $10 per additional hour or part thereof plus $5 for heating if heaters turned on. St Marys school is a possibility. Kent to contact Jason and find information regarding security codes, whether Jason would need to be there etc. Lourdes hall is also available. Catherine to check similar details with the parish. It was noted that St Marys may be a useful venue for the Spring Sing especially if we have male and female choirs rehearsing.

Freedom is Coming

Freedom is Coming, Freedom is Coming, Freedom is Coming, Oh yes, I know.

Oh yes, I know. Oh yes, I know. Oh yes, I know. Oh yes,  know.

 Siyahamba

Siyahamb’ ekukhanyen’ kwenkhos’ …

We are marching in the light of God.

We shall not give up the fight

We shall not give up the fight. We have only started, we have only started…

Together we’ll have victory, hand holding hand…

Never, ever put to flight, we’re bound to win… we are bound to win.

We shall not give up the fight. We have only started… x2
