Choirbolical is a Toowoomba Community Choir. Formed in 2002 following a workshop in 2001 by renowned musical educator, James Cuskelly, Choirbolical is a choir for all those who love to sing, with or without musical experience.
Rehearsals – Choirbolical meets on the first and third and fifth Tuesday evenings of each month. 7.00pm – 8.30pm. Gather at 6.45pm for a 7pm start please. Our rehearsal venue is De Molay House, 90 Margaret Street, Toowoomba. This is a non-audition choir and all are welcome to come along and try it out.
The Musical Director for 2020 is Matt Collins. Matt brings a wealth of music choral knowledge to the role.
In Matt’s rehearsals you can expect to sing a great variety of songs, how to best use your voice, and to make new friends and have a few laughs.
Past Musical Directors have been Tess Laird (2002-2005); Margaret Muller (2006-2012); Astrid Jorgensen (2013-2019); Carla Trott (2016).
Events and workshops are held annually to inspire those who love to sing and we meet 2 or 3 times a year with other Community choirs to share musical experiences, workshops and joint concerts.
Our Repertoire is wide and varied: canons, folksongs from different cultures, spirituals and choral songs in SATB and SAB. Our aim is to enjoy making music together and under the Music Director’s guidance we continually find new, challenging and inspiring repertoire. 2020 was the year no one expected and we continued to make music virtually.
