After a great rehearsal on Tuesday, we are nearly there with our mammoth effort to learn old but new repertoire. Hope you can join us for these final rehearsals.

SATURDAY 22nd October – Our rehearsals and 21st birthday party. 12.30pm @ St Stephens UC opposite Empire (new venue) with Morgan, Tess, Margaret, and Astrid. Time to polish all our pieces ready for SPRING SING concert the following day.

Sunday 4pm rehearsal – do-it-ourselves, in the Botanical Gardens near the cannon. Check the website if it is raining (a cancellation will not be emailed, just an updated post on the website.)

Tuesday 4th October – 7pm @ DeMolay. We will start with a virtual rehearsal with Margaret. The music is under repertoire – look for ‘Margaret’s Choice’. This will be followed by a rehearsal of other music with Morgan. Just a few rehearsals to go till our Spring Sing Concert and celebration on Oct 22/23

A quick reminder that there is an extra rehearsal with Morgan tonight (Tues 27th) 7pm at East Creek Neighbourhood Centre.

Sunday ‘do-it-ourselves’ rehearsals will be held the following two Sundays Oct 2nd & 9th @ 4pm. Meet at the cannon in the Botanical Gardens (Campbell St side) or look around for where we find a spot. If it is raining on the day check the website for updates.

There are many practice files – music and audio under our Repertoire tab. These include our little recordings we made after the great rehearsal last week with Tess, and the music for A Million Nightingales is now there.

Morgan is available for an extra rehearsal coming up this coming Tuesday 27th 7pm for those who can make it. VENUE – EAST CREEK Neighbourhood Centre – Kitchener Street between James & Herries (parking available). This is a new venue we will try for additional rehearsals.

Music & Practice

As we get closer to performing don’t forget all music and many practice tracks are available under the Repertoire tab. A little practice between rehearsals/ listening to tracks/ and looking at the music will help Morgan and our guest conductors get us over the line to polished performances! Good luck and see you soon.

A reminder that this coming Tuesday 6/9 we will have another of our guest conductors Tess Laird join us 6.45pm for a 7pm start to begin learning two pieces of music. See repertoire page. Some music will be available on the night. Download/print if you can OR find your old music if you are one of the Choirbolicals who goes right back!

We have a few rehearsals before our Spring Sing & celebration weekend – SEE PREVIOUS POST to register and please forward our emailed invitation & registration link to anyone you remember who has had connections to Choirbolical over the years 🙂

This coming Tuesday and the following Tuesday will be early start rehearsals & include past guest musical directors:

Tues 30th August 7pm – a video rehearsal with Astrid. Music – Can’t Buy Me Love is available under the Repertoire Tab. Morgan is not available for this rehearsal so we will use other rehearsal files to finish the evening.

Tues 6th September 7pm – Tess (our very first musical director) will be our in-person guest until 8pm along with members of Toowoomba Taiko drummers. Music – Keep Your Lamps and Panis Angelicus – past members will have purchased hard copies & we have some copies still in a file. This will be followed by a short rehearsal of other repertoire with Morgan.

Our final past musical director Margaret will be part of one of the next 3 rehearsals. Music – What a Wonderful World – again past members will have copies and we will find more.

The first page is for individual registrations to our 21st Spring Sing – Sunday 23rd October – open to anyone interested in having a wonderful day of singing with James Cuskelly OAM (our very first workshop musical director 21yrs ago) and Astrid Jorgensen (a past long term musical director of Choirbolical and now of Pub Choir fame). The second page of the above form will take you to registrations for our 21st Celebration sing, barefoot bowls & BBQ party – Saturday 22nd October – open to all who have ever sung with Choirbolical, past or present. Come and join the party, reminisce, sing some past repertoire, catch up with friends and our musical directors from 21 years of singing as a choir.

A reminder that this Tuesday 16th will be a regular rehearsal night 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start.

Organising for our Choirbolical 21st birthday celebrations are well underway. We are currently finalising flyers, a dropbox for you to upload any memorabilia and registration details.

For all past and present Choirbolicals: Saturday 22nd Oct from 1pm at Toowoomba North Bowls Club is our very own party! – rehearsing selected past repertoire, barefoot bowls & bbq. $25 / $15 for partners joining bowls & bbq. Kids free. Whether you have been at choir recently or not, do come along and join our catch up and reminiscing of good singing times.
