Music: See Repertoire tab for one piece and bring if possible. Other music will be provided on the day..

Cost: $15 waged / $10 unwaged. Preferably, pay directly before arriving. See details of BSB number on our FEES tab and tag your deposit with: (Name) – March Sing. Cash payments also accepted.

Please note this will be the only fee for Term One this year as we are having a late start. The following rehearsal dates will be: 15th & 29th March.

Maybe the world will have righted itself from Term 2 – We certainly have a wonderful year of singing planned in this our Anniversary Year with a fabulous weekend planned 22/23October

Minutes Voce Meeting 12/1/22

Attending: Rob, Alison, Linda, Lee, Elspeth, Eileen, Marion

1). Finances: Rob presented financial records which were discussed and accepted. Rob indicated he will vacate the role of treasurer. Elspeth offered to take this role on and Rob will provide some assistance as we start the new year. (For the record, we thank Rob for the years of undertaking the treasurer responsibilities.)

2). COVID situation: It was agreed that under the current Qld Health guidelines singing in person is impractical and unwise. Indoor regulations require mask wearing; over a metre distance between people; and verification of full vaccination.

Therefore it was agreed that Choir Rehearsals will not begin in person until at least March.  Prior to the start of in-person rehearsals we will conduct a survey where we will ask people if you wish to return to rehearsals and what your vaccination status is (double vaccinated/booster). This will then be verified once with your green tick on your first return to choir. New choir members will need to verify their vaccination status at the door on their first rehearsal. We do not want to make this an intrusive or uncomfortable process for anyone, but it is a necessary health and safety precaution.

Fees: As there will be a late in-person start to the year, no fees will be required in first term. Those who pay yearly, will pay three quarters of the yearly amount. More details coming.

3) The GOOD NEWS – we intend getting started with music and singing for the year. When we do meet in person again – VOCE agreed for Morgan to arrange a student accompanist to work with us. Look for posts over the next few weeks.

 – Astrid has especially invited us Choirbolicals to her upcoming Couch Choir. It is a paid event $10 and will feature her own composition. See a separate post when it is launched.

– Morgan will be sending out music and tracks to get us started singing along to before we next meet. Expect a post by End of January 🙂

4)  20 Year Anniversary: We have had such lovely greetings and enthusiasm from all our past musical directors – Matt, Astrid, Carla, Margaret, and Tess, as well as James who kicked off Choirbolical with a workshop in Dec 2001 and Morgan who is our Musical Director in 2022.

Put this weekend celebration date into your diary – October 23^rd /24^th

All welcome to the first planning meeting on Tuesday February 1^st – 7.30pm at DeMolay. We will discuss the involvement of past directors, venue, workshops, dinner, concert, as well as other events leading up to this end of year celebration.

Happy New Year – hope you have had a splendid festive season and you’re keeping well.
From a brief email around with a few VOCE folk it will be no surprise for you to hear that 2022 Choir rehearsals will not commence in January. Based on QHealth advice, a decision to delay till at least February seems prudent at which time we can reassess our start date. It is disappointing, but it is what it is. VOCE will meet this coming Wednesday 4.30-5.30 at the Queens Park Botanical gardens -near the cannon outdoors and bring a mask. We will do some preliminary planning for our 20 years celebration and discuss the situation. ALL Welcome.

Join us this coming Tuesday 7th Dec as we celebrate a year of singing with Choirbolical. If you have sung with us even once this year + Friends & Families – do come along and join us: 6pm – bring a plate to share and own drinks out on the lawn at DeMolay. Then approx 7pm join us for a concert & singing in the hall. Fingers crossed for fine weather – if not find us in the hall at 6pm.

If you can come along earlier to help set up from 5.30pm, it would be most appreciated.

2021 is nearly over folks and what a wonderful year of singing with Morgan, through covid obstacles. There is a rehearsal this coming Tuesday 30th – a fifth Tuesday at usual time and place. 6.45pm for 7pm. Bring all your music from the year and expect singing surprises.
End of year Party and sing along will be the following Tuesday evening 7/12/21 Bring a plate to share on the lawn and your own drinks – 6pm. Invitation is extended to all friends and family to join us for both the food and the following concert & sing-a-long starting about 7pm.
Looking forward to seeing old Choirbolicals and new soon.

A reminder that we have a rehearsal on this Tuesday 16/11. It was great to see so many of us at the Jazz club enjoying ourselves on Friday night and by all accounts our music was enjoyed by all.
A VOCE meeting will also be held before the rehearsal 6pm to discuss end of year break-up and sing on the final night 9/12. More details to come but put it in your diary. Also importantly, 2022 planning ahead will be discussed!
