Voce & a concert

This Tuesday is a VOCE meeting 6pm to wrap up 2021 (including reviewing Spring Sing/ upcoming Jazz Club performance/ end of year ) plus some forward planning for 2022 – our 20th year of Choirbolical – all welcome. Toowoomba Strings will present “Youth Concerto 2021”, a fundraiser concert at St Luke’s Church on Sunday October 31st at 3.00pm. Fine string music for all!

This delightful program features well-loved works, including Handel Concerto Grosso for strings, Telemann’s much loved Viola Concerto in G, Concerti by Beriot and Seitz as well as Colourful Music for Strings.   Our talented musicians will again be performing in order to raise funds for families living with Leukaemia.

3) A French Singing workshopIntroduction to French chanson. Thurs 28 October 5.30-6:30pm

Location: Armitage Centre 54-56 Neil Street Toowoomba

Embark on a journey through French songs of the 20th century! Born in France and of Spanish-Sephardic heritage, Pauline Maudy will facilitate a uplifting vocal workshop for beginners and experienced singers. Pauline teaches French songs and harmonies to singers of all levels of experience and quickly gets you to sing together with ease. Hear stories of French singers and songwriters such as Piaf, Brassens and Gainsbourg, learn French lyrics, sing along with Pauline and the band’s wonderful instrumentalists and perform with the band during the Take Me to Paris show at the Armitage Centre.

4) Choirbolical performance at Toowoomba Jazz Club

Date claimer: Friday evening November 12th. We will be the interlude entertainment around 8.30pm. Bookings are essential so details will be sent out soon on how to book a table for you and friends or family for the whole evening with The Stephen Henry Band or arrangements if you are coming between 8-9pm for just the warm-up and performance.

Park Sing, Registrations & Rehearsal

Join us for a Park Sing on Monday Oct 4th (Queen’s Birthday holiday!) 4.30pm- 5.30pm at Botanical Gardens on a grassy spot near cannon. Bring all music.

Extra Park Practice

To anyone free and in Toowoomba this coming Tuesday 28th – 4.30pm – 5.30pm come along to the Botanical gardens – North-West corner to be out of any wind. We will bring practice tracks and have the chance to practice with each other our current repertoire. Of course the gardens are worth a visit too!!
On another note – we were saddened to hear our long time past treasurer Catherine’s husband Wal passed away and our thoughts are with her at this time.

And don’t forget to register for the day of singing at our Spring Sing on the 9th October. The registration form is under the Events tab and do invite friends to the workshops from 8.30am and gold coin concert at 2.45pm being held this year at Highfields State School Community Arts centre.
