Choirbolical performance reminder
Calling all Choirbolicals: We are performing Tues 27 June, 6:00 for 7:30 start: CUA Community Hub, (Credit Union Australia Community Space down from Walton’s Stores, front entrance facing Ruthven) Please bring your family, friends and anyone you can get to attend as we love applause!
If you wish to have an opportunity to practice for the Tuesday performance, the Elvery’s are having a do it yourself practice at their home, Herbert and Kitchner Street at 4:00pm on Sunday 25 June. Thank you Andrew and Marion!

Freedom rehearsal parts
Hi all,
Here they are! Couple of iffy rhythms on my part, but the song is very repetitive, so hopefully if I stuff one up along the way, you will hear it correctly 100 other times.
Of note:
Tenors, I have sung your part largely as the top line of the ‘baritone’ part of the piece. You’re sharing a line with the basses for most of the song. However you share the alto line in the Verses.
Altos, I have given the tenors the bottom alto line in the verses. However some altos will need to sing the lower harmony in the chorus, in the “Freedom” section.

FREEDOM sheet music!!!!
Hi all,
I’ve just this minute received the sheet music from Paul Jarman for our arrangement of Choirbolical, and have attached it here. As you can see from the inscription at the top of the piece, this is pretty special. The arrangement looks difficult on paper, but after reading through and comparing with the original recording, Paul has stayed very faithful to the original song. So if you’ve listened to it, it shouldn’t seem too frightening.
I am going to record the parts and have them absolutely sent off to you by the end of tonight. Party time at my place. I would appreciate if you could become obsessed with listening to the rehearsal tracks once you have them. This is a very cool opportunity (and also a great song to sing into the future, even if you’re not joining us in Tassie).

Do it ourselves Practice Sundays update 4pm-5..30pm
Feel free to come by for a ‘do-it-ourselves’ practice of our choir music this Sunday (18th and again on 25th ) at the Elvery’s crn Herbert and Mackenzie Streets – a little later than last message – 4pm to 5.30pm.
Also note that the VOCE minutes from this week are on the website to view. Points to note: extra REHEARSAL on the 27th June will be a CONCERT for friends and family held at the Credit Union Community Space down the lane from Walton’s Stores, so start inviting folk to come and hear us before some of us head off to Festival of Voices Hobart.. The Hobart schedule is also attached to the VOCE minutes for your interest.

Marion has checked out the website and it looks quite formal and organised. It may be too late to be included. Check it out .

4. Walton Store Stage: Lesley has had contact with organisers. She will check out if it is available on Sunday 16 July at 1pm (after a performance at the Camellia Show in the morning) Saturday 9 September at 11am (instead of Spring Sing). Astrid, how would these suit you? We have to wait for confirmation of event at Camellia Show.
5. Chris Meibusch Project: Chris is talking to Astrid about our involvement in more recording. It has not been finalised. An email to Chris has explained that we don’t need to purchase any more recording equipment.
6. Hobart:
a)Catherine has had confirmation that all money and names and contact details have been received by the organisers.
b) We will take a calico version of our corflute sign to display when doing pop-ups. (Groupie job)
c) Judy will be asked to make ‘Groupie’ badges for accompanying spouses.
d) Our latest Hobart program is attached.
e)`On Friday, mid-morning, arrange a meeting place for all choir members to have last warm-up/practice before first pop-up.

Submission accepted by organisers. Requested singing sessions 10.30, 11.30, 12.30 at one position , eg near main entrance.

Before Freedom….
Hi Choirbolical,
Firstly – what a fantastic effort at rehearsal on Tuesday night!!!! I’m really happy with, and thankful for the effort you’ve put into learning your repertoire outside of rehearsals. Please don’t stop!! We’re on the home stretch now and will just need one last push before our upcoming concerts.
We are apparently receiving the George Michael “Freedom” arrangement this week (supposedly tomorrow). As soon as I get this, I will obviously forward it to you all, and I will set about recording some rehearsal tracks ASAP so that you can learn it as quickly as possible.
However – with this extra piece, it just means we will have to dedicate valuable rehearsal time to learn it. Could I ask that you:
- Continue frequently listening and practicing along with “Sing Me To Heaven” and “Father Father”. These are 85% complete, so one last little push at home would be much appreciated.
- Make sure that you know “I Wish I Knew How It Feels To Be Free”, and “Heyr Himna”, and “Red Hot” from memory – Sing along with them whenever you get the opportunity.
- Sing through “E Malama”, “E’we Thina”, and “Mother Earth”, and “Riu Riu” every now and then to keep them fresh in your mind.
I envision that for our last two rehearsals, I will have to spend essentially the entire next rehearsal on June 20th dedicated to learning “Freedom”. We will then use our final rehearsal on June 27th to sing through everything (hopefully twice). So you see, it would be great to have the other songs under your belt, ready to go.
HAPPIEST PRACTICING! IT IS ALL WORTH IT!

Rehearsal reminder
This Tuesday – 30th May is a 5th Tuesday so we will have a rehearsal this coming Tuesday night 6.45 for a 7pm start. There will also be a rehearsal on the following week (1st Tuesday)
